What We Do - TMS Services
Conditions we treat
TMS has been proven to treat depression and anxiety as well as other mental health conditions and some addictions. Smart TMS was the first UK clinic to offer TMS treatment for conditions other than depression.
Most of the patients we treat here at Smart TMS (around 70%) are suffering from clinical depression – including seasonal affective disorder (SAD), perinatal depression and bipolar disorder.
We also offer TMS treatment for the following conditions:
- generalised anxiety disorder (GAD)
- addictions to drugs, smoking and alcohol
- obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
- post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- depersonalisation disorder (DPD)
- borderline personality disorder (BPD)
Smart TMS Manchester is easily accessible by car, with on-street metered parking in front of the clinic.
If you’re travelling by train, Deansgate station is only a 5-minute walk from the clinic. Alternatively, Oxford Road, Piccadilly and Victoria stations are all a 15-20 minute walk from the clinic, or a short taxi ride away.
By tram, the Deansgate-Castlefield stop is a 5-minute walk away. Many buses run to Shudehill interchange, which is a 15 minute walk away.
We are around 25 minutes from Manchester Airport by taxi.
What our patients say
Manchester TMS Practitioner
The clinic is run by our practitioner, Abie.
Abie completed her Psychology BSc at Lancaster University before going on to study for her Masters in Developmental Disorders, for which she was awarded a certificate of distinction.
She has worked with N-Compass Northwest, an organisation which provides advocacy and carer support, and has experience in peer mentoring within projects supporting disaffected youth. Abie has also facilitated support groups for mental wellbeing, which helps her to build strong, supportive relationships with her patients.
When not in the clinic, Abie enjoys going for long walks with her dog, which only involves 20% walking and 80% drinking tea in dog friendly cafès!
