West London Living has reported on how Smart TMS : London, our flagship clinic based in Kensington, is helping more depression patients see an improvement in their quality of life than ever before.
The feature was based on an interview between West London Living and Gerard Barnes, Smart TMS’ CEO and co-founder. It focused on how Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation can truly change the lives of those people suffering with mental health conditions, such as:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Addictions
- OCD
- PTSD
- DPD
- Insomnia
ABOUT THE SMART TMS : LONDON
Smart TMS : London opened its doors in 2015. Soon after, TMS was officially recognised by the National institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a safe and effective treatment for depression. Since opening, the clinic has extended it’s opening hours to include early morning and after-work appointments to make TMS more accessible. Excitingly, it has also become the training hub for all new members of staff beginning their journey with Smart TMS. The team are helping to treat depression not only in London, but throughout the UK and Ireland, too.
TMS TREATMENT
West London Living reports:
“For depression and anxiety, 75% of Smart TMS treated patients have seen a reduction in their symptoms of at least 30%”
This reduction is defined by the patient regularly completing questionnaires on their mood and emotional responses. In time, the scores recorded from these questionnaires will begin to improve as the symptoms begin to decrease.
The report continues to explain how TMS works:
“TMS uses pulsing magnetic fields to activate or suppress the brain centres associated with a number of medical and psychiatric disorders”
Later adding:
“The reported side effects of TMS therapy are mild fatigue and mild headaches which can be treated with painkillers. Unlike some other treatments, there is no recovery time needed from TMS therapy and patients can continue with their day immediately”
We at Smart TMS have now treated hundreds of patients across our ever-growing network of clinics. Of those treated for depression 60% have gone into remission – meaning that they’re no longer clinically depressed!
