In this short video, Dr Leigh Neal, Consultant Psychiatrist and Medical Director of Smart TMS, introduces and explains Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatment.

About TMS
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is a non-invasive, non-medication based treatment.
Dr Neal says:
“It’s a revolutionary new form of treatment, mainly for depression.
“In the past a psychiatrist like myself might try several types of antidepressant combinations, then we’d reach a point where the patient still wouldn’t improve and even with skilled treatment antidepressants can only treat about 7o% of patients.
“One of the positive things about rTMS is that once a person’s been treated with it they don’t need to have any other form of treatment, they just remain well afterwards.”
He says as treatment progresses, you can see the patient start to become alive and more positive.
“You can see them almost start to come alive there’s a kind of positivity about them. They start to be more talkative and more enthusiastic.”

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a technological breakthrough in the treatment of depression without drugs and was approved by NICE for the treatment of resistant depression in 2015.
