Welcome to Smart TMS : Bristol
*** Please note: our Bristol clinic is temporarily closed. This is to help stop the spread of the coronavirus and protect both our patients and our practitioners.
Pre-assessment questionnaires and clinical psychology assessments prior to treatment will also continue to be carried out and as these are delivered digitally, we can continue to assess and triage patients ready for treatment when they feel ready. ***
Our Bristol clinic opened in July 2018, located in the city centre between Temple Meads and St Philip’s. The location is close to the train station and well connected for the roads too, making it easily accessible for patients visiting for regular treatment.
The clinic specialises in the provision of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation treatment for a range of difficult mental health and addiction conditions. Treatments are carried out by our trained technicians and are completely non-invasive – no medication, surgery or anaesthetic are involved. Daily sessions are carried out over a few weeks, as the effectiveness of treatment builds up over a course of treatment.
HOW TO GET HERE
Smart TMS is located a short, scenic walk away from Temple Meads train station. Buses are also available from the city centre.
There is limited parking available at the clinic and plenty of on street parking and a large car park near by.
Conditions we treat
TMS has been proven to treat depression and anxiety as well as other mental health conditions and some addictions. Smart TMS was the first UK clinic to offer TMS treatment for conditions other than depression.
Most of the patients we treat here at Smart TMS Bristol (around 70%) are suffering from clinical depression – including seasonal affective disorder (SAD), perinatal depression and bipolar disorder.
We also offer TMS treatment for thefollowing conditions:
- generalised anxiety disorder (GAD)
- addictions to cocaine, smoking and alcohol
- obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
- post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- depersonalisation disorder (DPD)
- borderline personality disorder (BPD)
The clinic is run by our practitioner, Harpreet.
Harpreet, or Vinny to his friends and family, completed a BSc in Psychology at the University of East Anglia before going on to complete a MSc in Applied Clinical Psychology at the University of Bath. He has worked in a variety of different settings, in a range of roles, with his most recent experience being in a specialist psychiatric hospital, where he supported detained patients struggling with mental health disorders. Vinny studied rTMS in his degrees and particularly enjoys supporting his patients throughout the course of treatment.
In his spare time, Vinny is a big fan of cinema, with his favourite film being Pans Labyrinth by Guillermo del Toro.
