Welcome to Smart TMS Northampton
The clinic specialises in the provision of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation treatment for a range of difficult mental health and addiction conditions. TMS therapy is a safe and completely non-invasive treatment which involves no medication, surgery or anaesthetic. Daily sessions are carried out by our trained technicians over a few weeks, as the effectiveness of treatment builds up over a course of treatment.
HOW TO GET HERE
Thanks to excellent road and rail links, Smart TMS is easily accessible for patients in and around the Northamptonshire area.
Our transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment centre is conveniently located in the centre of Northampton. We’re less than 15 minutes from junction 15 of the M1 and less than 20 minutes from junction 15A, making it very easy to find us.
There is limited local free parking for up to an hour in neighbouring Denmark Street, but the clinic is within easy walking distance of a number of car parks, the nearest being Abington Place 0.2 miles away. Please contact us prior to your visit if you require any advice about travel or parking.
Conditions we treat
TMS has been proven to treat depression and anxiety as well as other mental health conditions and some addictions. Smart TMS was the first UK clinic to offer TMS treatment for conditions other than depression.

We also offer TMS treatment for the following conditions:
- generalised anxiety disorder (GAD)
- addictions to drugs, smoking and alcohol
- obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
- post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- depersonalisation disorder (DPD)
- borderline personality disorder (BPD)
What our patients say
The clinic is run by our practitioner, Richard Williams.
TMS Practitioner, Northampton
Richard’s career began in the hospitality industry, but he decided to retrain after experiencing a breakdown in 2015.
His personal experience means that Richard has a clear understanding of depression and anxiety. He is always compassionate and shows empathy, as well as a determination to help other patients in a similar position. TMS changed his life and gave him back the confidence to retrain and pursue a career in Mental Health.
Richard is studying with the Institute of Counsellors, to give him a more holistic approach to treating patients alongside TMS.
