Paving the way for better mental health in the UK

royal college of psychiatristsEach of us will meet people in our lives who are impacted by mental health. As years have gone by, mental health has become less and less of a taboo. With the stigma reducing and more people opening up about their mental health, now is the perfect time to drive forwards and establish excellent quality care with proven treatment outcomes.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists

Today, Smart TMS Medical Director, Dr Leigh Neal, was accompanied by CEO, Gerard Barnes, at the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Here, they worked with experts in varying areas of psychiatry to create industry standards for the use of rTMS treatment in the UK. Until now, the knowledge of rTMS has been hit and miss. Some psychiatrists recognise the benefits and others yet to discover the impact the treatment can have.

Today’s event goes a long way to having rTMS being offered to a consistent high standard throughout the country. In time, this will see more and more patients receiving the best possible treatment for them as an individual. In life, choice is something we all appreciate. By allowing patients the choice about how they’re treated we’ll see happier patients feeling in control of their treatment plan. With treatment options comes hope and a higher probability of patients getting better from the mental health conditions that have plagued their lives.
