PANDAS are launching and hosting the first Pre & Post Natal Depression Awareness Week in the UK.

The week is designed to raise awareness of the difficult mental illnesses and show people where to go to find help.

The charity’s figures state that

• 15-20% of pregnant mums suffer with pre-natal depression
• 1 in 10 women suffer with post-natal depression

Postnatal Depression Treatment

The most common treatments for postnatal depression are:

• Medication (antidepressants)
• Counselling and therapy/CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy)
• Peer support groups
