Pioneering Mental Health Clinic Launches in Manchester
The new clinic offers Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation treatment for depression, addiction and a range of other mental health-related conditions for patients in the North of England.

The article introduced Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy as an innovative, ‘ground-breaking treatment’ with the ‘potential to save thousands of lives’.

The Manchester Business Post article shared figures, illustrating the level of need for such treatments in the city.
“Statistics from the Manchester Public Health Annual Report 2016/17 suggest that over half of people in Manchester claiming sickness benefits are doing so due to mental and behavioral disorders, and/or substance abuse issues. The rates of alcohol related conditions and the numbers of those who smoke are also higher than the national average.”
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Treatment
TMS uses magnetic energy to stimulate specific areas of the brain. The treatment is clinically proven and non-invasive.
The treatment most in demand is for depression – a condition for which rTMS has been approved by NICE (2015) as a safe alternative to antidepressants. Smart TMS says that around 2 in 3 Smart TMS patients experience complete remission after 6 weeks of therapy.
In addition to depression, rTMS can also treat certain addictions and a range of other mental health issues; including anxiety, OCD, PTSD and DPD (depersonalisation disorder).
